AAWC President’s Report: Winter 2024

AAWC President’s Report: Winter 2024

I remember winter as such a beautiful time on the Wilson College campus. I loved the walk back to the residence halls after leaving the library, listening to the crunch of the snow. As alums, it can be more difficult to get to campus in the wintertime, but thanks to Zoom and live streaming, we still have the opportunity to connect with some on-campus activities, like the Vespers service in December. While distance, weather, or life’s other responsibilities may prevent you from a visit to campus, there are lots of ways to keep informed and aware. You just have to be on the lookout for them!

We have a particularly exciting way for you to connect with Wilson, much farther afield than Chambersburg! The AAWC is sponsoring a trip to Croatia in November, to be hosted by President Wes Fugate and led by his husband Cody Ward. It promises to be a very special opportunity to experience a spectacular part of Europe. I hope you can join us.

This January, we have welcomed to campus our new Director of Alumni Relations Andrea McCauley. She is the proud mom of a first-year student at Wilson, and an enthusiastic and energetic addition to the staff in Alumni House. I know she is looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible, either in her travels or at our upcoming Reunion.

Reunion is always a wonderful way to experience Wilson. It will be held May 31–June 2 this year. If it’s “your” year, it’s a chance to gather with classmates, but even if your class is not coming this year, we are always happy to welcome alums from other classes – there’s lots planned. We have something new this year, a celebration of 15 years of Wilson conferring graduate degrees. There will be a special reception to bring alums who earned a master’s degree from Wilson together, as well as for others to learn about the graduate studies programs, and the accelerated degree programs that the College is preparing to launch.

We have a full schedule of programs, receptions, and opportunities for alums to hear the good news about Wilson, visit with and celebrate each other, and (re)experience the Wilson campus. You should have already received a comprehensive schedule and registration booklet in the mail. Information can also be found online at www.wilson.edu/reunion. The deadline to register is May 13. I do hope you will all plan to join in the Reunion fun.

With wishes for health and happiness in 2024, and hopes to see you on campus soon!
